Benchmark indices traded flat on the third trading session of the last week of F&O expiry and were able to close in green with marginal gains as investors are biting cautious ahead of a key policy statement by the US Federal Reserve Chairperson this week in Jackson Hole. Nifty ended the session to give closing at 8650.30 i.e. 17.70 points higher.
Auro pharma, Maruti, Cipla and Tata Power were the top gainers of the day while IDEA, Lupin Ambuja Cement were the top losers of the day.
Global Markets Update:
- Hong Kong’s securities regulator said it fined and reprimanded the local securities unit of Morgan Stanley for internal control failures related to disclosure of short-selling orders and comprehensive documentation of electronic trading services.
- European shares rose, lifted by gains in Sweden’s hygiene product maker SCA and British advertising group WPP, though an update from miner Glencore dragged the mining sector lower.
