Benchmark indices traded lower on the last trading session of the November F&O series contract losing the gains of previous trading session on account of rupee falling to a record low affecting the investor’s sentiments. Domestic sentiment was also hit as participants indulged in liquidating positions in view of November month derivatives expiry. Moreover the weak Asian cues also kept the market lower.
IT stocks were the major gainers of the ay while Media and private banking shares were the major losers of the day.
Global Markets Update
European stocks were mostly higher on Thursday, as market sentiment remained broadly supported since Donald Trump’s electoral win and as investors eyed the release of German business climate data later in the day.
Japan’s Nikkei share average rose for a sixth day on Thursday helped by hopes for better exporters’ earnings as the dollar jumped against the yen.
Siemens posted robust Q4 number as profit jumped more than 11-fold to Rs 2467 crore against Rs 219.1 crore compared on yearly basis led by stake sale in healthcare undertaking. Total income during quarter tanks 6.3% to Rs 3091 while other income up by 67.8% to Rs 68.3 crore.
SBI gains after it slashed bulk deposit rates by up to 1.9%, taking advantage of the surge in deposits following demonetisation.

Rallis India gains as signed an agreement for increasing its stake in its subsidiary, ZWAOL(Zero Waste Agro – Organics) from 73.63% to 100%. Consequently, ZWAOL will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Rallis India, on completion of the acquisition of the balance shares in ZWAOL.
