Benchmark indices traded lower on the fourth trading session of the week ahead of a key job data report from the US on Friday, investors are also cautious ahead of ECB minutes to be released later today. However the downside of the market was limited due to buying observed in Oil Marketing Companies (OMC). Nifty ended the session to close at 8709.55 i.e. 34.40 points higher. BPCL, GAIL, Grasim and Reliance were the top gainers of the day while Bank of Baroda, Cipla, and Power Grid were the top losers of the day.
Global Markets Update:
- Asian shares gained on Thursday with investors looking ahead to U.S. nonfarm payrolls at the end of the week to assess prospects for an end of the year rate hike by the Fed.
- A U.S. judge on Wednesday said Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI: FCHA) must face a lawsuit claiming it defrauded shareholders by overstating its ability to comply with vehicle safety laws.
